All materials have the ability to insulate heat , only, in some, their constituent components offer such resistance that they are ideal to prevent a certain intensity of heat from being transmitted or propagated.

Heat is a form of energy that passes through materials, which is why there are others (insulators) that prevent this spread.

Classification of heat insulating materials

Insulators can be classified according to the material from which they are made and the presentation formats.

In all cases they are characterized by their low thermal conductivity and are useful in construction, at home and in industry.

According to the type of material they are known as:

  1. Fibrous . They serve as fillers or covers since they are composed of filaments with high porosity. They can isolate from 200 degrees to 1,700 degrees.
  2. Cell phones . These are cell-type materials, special for boards.
  3. Granular . They are insulators made up of thousands of tiny agglomerated particles.
  4. Expanded polystyrene. It is used in the construction sector, in containers and packaging. It is very hygienic and resistant to humidity, aging and mechanical pressure.
  5. Extruded polystyrene. It is a very light insulator and improves energy efficiency in homes. It is very resistant to fire and water.
  6. It is a polymer that has countless applications at home, in industry. It is resistant to corrosion and chemicals.
  7. Reflective scrolls. Excellent insulator for enclosures and rehabilitation of works. They are generally composed of layers of aluminum or polyethylene foam.
  8. Mineral wool . High insulating and biosoluble capacity.
  9. Glass wool. It is a very efficient thermal insulator, it also serves to isolate sound. It can keep internal spaces heated.
  10. It has an internal alveolar structure, it is highly resistant to water, high temperatures and its production is sustainable over time.

  19. It is a type of clay with low thermal conductivity. At high temperatures it has fire retardant qualities.
  20. Coconut fiber, cotton, hemp, straw. These are natural fibers with insulating properties suitable for the construction and production of panels or coatings.
