We call ecological products to those foods produced through ecological agriculture or livestock. These products are obtained taking into account the animal welfare and the environment where they are generated and do not use chemical products in their production or obtaining. Within these products, we can find any type of food: fruits, vegetables, vegetables, bread, meats or alcoholic beverages.
Ecological certificate to distinguish products
Organic food must have the corresponding certification that guarantees it. This shows that this food has passed through the controls of the agriculture committees of the autonomous community or the region in which it is produced or grown. The labeling of organic products is mandatory in all EU countries, in compliance with the standards established in Regulation (EEC) No. 2092/91, approved by the EU since 1991.
Thus, the best way to check whether a product is organic or not is to look at the label on the package. In this case, although the terms differ, it would not matter if it is ecological, biological or organic. There are different types of labels for organic products depending on their origin:
Organic product labeling in Spain
In our country, it is the autonomous communities themselves that have the competence to certify organic products and thus require compliance with European regulations. In this case, if the organic product has been grown or produced in our country, it will bear the label of the autonomous community in which it has been grown.
UE Organic Bio Logo
This label is mandatory for organic food that comes from a country that belongs to the European Union, but not in Spain. This certification consists of an EU logo that has a spike formed by several stars on a green background and is called the UE Organic Bio Logo.
Not only fresh products such as fruits, vegetables, vegetables, dairy or meats are organic, but there are many other products that we buy regularly, which are also. The labels that these products carry is called Eco Label and is made up of a flower and the blue stars that represent the European Union.
In addition, this label also indicates that a product has certain characteristics, such as being more biodegradable, a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions during its production, being less polluting or having recycled fibers that come from sustainable forests.
The traceability of a product identifies the origin, producer of the raw materials, the components of the product, the manufacturing processes, the quantities, the storage of the product or to whom the sale has been made. The traceability system is a way of providing transparency in the way of identifying the production process of a certain product or service.
In addition to labeling, the traceability system is a way to identify whether a product is organic or not , since when it comes to knowing about it, knowing the producers, the clarity of their website or the fact that companies, Entrepreneurs, artisans or farmers, show their production processes is an aid to know if a product is ecological.
What does an organic certificate mean?
By purchasing a product with any of these mentioned labels, it is guaranteed that the product is environmentally friendly and that it meets the following requirements:

- Organic livestock animals that are raised in freedom and with respect to animal welfare conditions

The greenwashing is a term that has become popular in recent years and whose translation into Spanish would be greenwashing . Greenwashing refers to all those actions and marketing and advertising campaigns that use the ecological or ecological fact not out of conviction and will to change things, but only to gain popularity or profits .
Nowadays, more and more people are aware of the environment, critical consumers who choose products of ecological origin. That is why many companies use an alleged environmentalism more for marketing than for conscience and, in some cases, their actions are totally contrary to what they are defending in theory.
