Keyboard shortcuts with the Windows Logo (Win key)

The Windows logo key (Win key,) located at the bottom of modern keyboards, is a powerful tool when it comes to keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Windows.

Windows key

Open or close the Start menu.

Windows Key + Pause

Displays the System Properties dialog.

Tecla Windows + D

Shows the desktop.

Tecla Windows + M

Minimize all windows.

Windows key + E

Open the Windows Explorer window.

Tecla Windows + F

Search for a file or folder.

Ctrl + Tecla Windows + F

Search for computers, if you are on a network.

Tecla Windows + L

Blocks your users from computers or switching.

Windows key + R

Opens the Run dialog box.

Tecla Windows + T

Cycle through the programs located on the Windows taskbar.

Windows key + number

Start the program located on the taskbar in the position indicated by the number. If the program is already running, then it switches to that program.

Shift + Number + Windows logo key

Starts a new instance of the program located on the taskbar, where “ Number” corresponds to the position of the program on the toolbar.

Ctrl + Windows logo key + Number

Switches to the last active window of the program located on the taskbar, where “ Number” corresponds to the position of the program on the toolbar.

Alt + Windows logo key + number

Opens the drop-down list of the program located on the taskbar at the position indicated by the number.

Tecla Windows + Tab

Cycles through open programs, displaying a preview of them.

Ctrl + Tecla Windows + Tab

Use the arrow keys to scroll through the programs on the taskbar.

Ctrl + Windows logo key + B

Switch to the program that displays a message in the notification area.

Desktop Preview.

Windows Key + Up Arrow

Maximize the window.

Windows Key + Left Arrow

Maximizes the window on the left side of the screen.

Windows Key + Right Arrow

Maximizes the window on the right side of the screen.

Minimize the window.

Minimize all windows except the active window.

Windows Key + Shift + Up Arrow

Window stretching to the top and bottom of the screen.

Move a window from one monitor to another. In case you have more than one monitor.

Choose a presentation display mode.

Tecla Windows + T

Cycle through the items located on the system toolbar.

Tecla Windows + U

Open the Ease of Access Center.

Windows key + X

Open the Windows Mobility Center window.
